Design your very own dragon to survive as long as you can in a procedurally generated fantasy world leveraging chemistry, destruction, physics, and more to create the most satisfying build for each playthrough.
What will your build be? Will your dragon specialize in chopping down trees and throwing them at enemies? Perhaps your dragon will grapple onto objects with their tongue like a chameleon! Or maybe you'd like a more familiar dragon build and specialize in fire breathing, just make sure you're not indoors when practicing it!
Everything is incorporated into the physics simulation, including your dragon itself. Your upgrades will determine your dragon's relationship with the environment. You will take damage from hard hits! However, with sufficient upgrades, whether it be added armor, melee weapons attached to your dragon's body, or some other clever solution, you can use collision damage to your advantage and direct it towards enemies and objects. This approach applies to every one of Scalemarch's numerous and interwoven systems.
Leveraging the simulation is the key to success in Scalemarch, and with semi-randomized progression between each run, no single build is ideal for any playthrough.
Specific Features:
Node-Based Upgrade System - In Scalemarch, you can build your own upgrade tree to create a build hyper-specific to your playthrough. Upgrades can be augmented with branching upgrades to define their effect on your dragon.
Rogue-Lite Progression - Performing actions in a run will award you with "essence" which can be used in subsequent runs to purchase new upgrades. Essence can be rewarded for any playstyle, not just crushing as many townspeople as you can (this works too though).
Physically Simulated World - A robust physics system which includes chemical interactions. The enemies, structures, objects, and terrain you encounter all have their own unique physical properties and behaviors. Rocks with metallic elements will conduct electricity, water will slow you down and change how your dragon moves, obstacles can be smashed through and burned.
Procedural Generation - There is infinite terrain to explore in every run with many unique biomes, with certain upgrades providing different advantages and disadvantages in each biome. Every run is familiar yet new, allowing you to reliably test your build in a way that doesn't get stale.
Multiplayer - Join your friends and work together to progress.
