The Bell Tolls is a roguelike turn-based RPG built on the 5th Edition (5e) ruleset of the world's most popular tabletop RPG.
Gather your party and venture forth. But you must hurry, for a nameless evil is spreading its Corruption.
THE BELL TOLLS AT MIDNIGHT
Each night at midnight, the Bell tolls and the Corruption spreads across the map. Enemies in corrupted areas grow stronger. If the Corruption reaches town, the final boss gains more power.
Time passes as you freely roam the overworld, so plan your path to its lair carefully.
LEVEL UP YOUR PARTY
Character progression mostly follows 5e: experience points, ability score increases, feats, and multiclassing without the usual restrictions. A Paladin may, for instance, dip into Wizard to get more spell slots to smite with.
Some rare spells and skills can't be picked when leveling up. They need to be discovered and learned from scrolls.
EXPLORE DUNGEONS
Each run, the nameless evil makes its lair in a different dungeon, marked on your map from the very start. Nothing stops you from heading there straight away... except for everything waiting inside. The other dungeons hold treasure, feats and experience you'll need to survive it.
But choose your route wisely. The Corruption does not wait, and the Bell tolls for thee.
FEATURES
Based on the 5e ruleset with ability scores, attack rolls, saving throws and the action economy.
Turn-based combat on a grid. Formation is set before the fight. There is no movement once it starts.
Assemble a party of three from four playable heroes (the Wizard, Fighter, Paladin, Cleric, and more to come), each with two subclasses.
Gear, feats, spells and combat skills lets you customize the heroes. Some of these are only available from rewards out in the world.
Choose your route through the node-based overworld in a race to grow strong enough to stop the Corruption.
Three dungeons are spread across the overworld: the goblin swamp, the cultist hideout and the undead crypt. The lair of the final boss can be reached from day one, if you dare.
The evil's form depends on where it spawns. Each dungeon has its own final boss.
Rest up or upgrade items at campsites.
New map layouts, encounters and rewards every run.
