Cat and Paste! is a casual multiplayer hide-and-seek game for PC in which players divide into cats and hunters for short online matches filled with creative disguises and sudden reveals.
Gameplay
Matches support between two and sixteen participants connected online. Cats select objects from the environment such as crates, barrels, tractors or large trees and use a copy action to assume their exact shape and size. A paste action then allows placement of multiple additional copies that can be recolored freely, creating clusters or even rainbow fields that obscure real positions. Subtle visual clues like a tail tip, a face edge or slight warping on pasted items can still give away a disguised cat.
Hunters carry a hammer that clears entire groups of nearby objects with one swing and a rifle whose single shot triggers chain reactions across connected decoys. The core loop centers on observation and quick decisions rather than precise aiming, with rounds lasting five to ten minutes. In-game voice chat helps teams coordinate during both hiding and searching phases.
Game Modes
Two distinct modes shape the experience. Hide and Seek Royale functions as a free-for-all round where every player begins as a cat with time to hide and paste decoys. Once the hiding phase ends, everyone switches to hunter and the player who uncovers the most cats claims victory.
Hide and Seek WARS pits a cat team against a hunter team in an infection-style format. Any cat discovered joins the hunter side immediately. The cat team wins only if at least some members remain hidden until the timer expires, while hunters succeed by converting or eliminating the entire opposing side.
Stage Creation and Multiplayer Options
Before each match participants can enter edit mode together to arrange objects across the map and construct custom stages. These creations save for repeated play, letting groups design dense hiding zones or deliberately colorful layouts. Three preset stages provide starting points while custom builds expand variety.
Players join friends through private rooms or enter public lobbies to meet new opponents. Streamers distribute invite codes so viewers can participate directly in the same session, turning broadcasts into shared events.
Is It Worth Playing?
Cat and Paste! delivers a lighthearted prop-hunt twist that rewards quick thinking and creative placement over mechanical skill. The copy-and-paste system turns every round into a fresh puzzle as cats multiply distractions and hunters learn to spot inconsistencies. With support for small groups up to full sixteen-player lobbies, the game suits casual gatherings where laughter from unexpected reveals matters more than ranked competition.
Because the title remains in pre-release with an open playtest scheduled shortly after announcement, interested players can test the core loop at no cost before the full version arrives. Those who enjoy short, repeatable multiplayer sessions built around disguise and detection will find the mechanics engaging, while anyone seeking deep progression systems or single-player content may prefer other options. The combination of team and free-for-all modes plus shared stage building gives it strong replay value for the right audience.
