A storm cut the sea lanes of the sky, and the ruins were left scattered.
The Riven Skyway is an expansion about wind, wings, and a road of broken stone.
After the sand and gears of the city, you cross high places where the boards
creak underfoot.
Five stages, five residents
- Windwait Harbour - crates and warehouses at the departure point. Luka the pilot reads the wind
- Brokenwing Pass - a narrow road lined with windbreaks. Tessa the bridge keeper shows you the counterweights
- Resonance Garden - resonant stones set to either side. Sono the stone keeper hears their order
- Anchor Tower - a high tower of severed anchor chains. Gald the warden works to reconnect them
- Skybreak Ring - a wide round plaza. Fina the sky observer watches the last of it
New companions
- Gale Moth - a great moth that opens its wings and looses a straight line of wind
- Rudder Weasel - a weasel that gathers wind with its tail, then steps in short and hard
- Chime Crab - a crab whose back-vessel answers every sound, scrambling the order the stones ring in
- Valgrave the Sky-Render - guardian of the skyway, blade-winged and heavy-tailed (boss)
How this skyway fights
This is not a fight you survive by holding your guard.
The warning comes not only as colour, but as a shape and a motion on the floor.
Read it, and step aside.
Valgrave is not attacking the ruins. It is only still receiving an intercept order
from a control device that broke long ago.
Difficulty (important)
Recommended level: 60. This is harder still than The City of Borrowed Hours (level 40).
On balance
Experience and gold from skyway monsters are about the same as main-game monsters
of a similar tier, so the skyway never becomes the place to grind.
Skyway materials are used only for skyway content and never touch main-game crafting.
This is not a shortcut to power. It is more companions, and more places to see.
